Equinox Copper Ventures

Equinox Copper Ventures (ECV) owners of Lumwana Copper Project (LCP) believe that their multi-million dollar investment will place Zambia at the centre-stage of world mining. And EVC has changed its name to Lumwana Copper Mines (LCM)

LCM managing director, Harry Michael recently told Zambian government delegation to the development site that toured LCP now currently under construction that Equinox was committed to developing the project into a world-class enterprise. The project will take two years. Mine production is expected to start early in 2008.

Mr Michael said LCP is set to become the largest copper mine in Africa. LCP has developed an environmental policy that ensures that mining activity will have minimal impact on the environment. Michael has pioneered two successful gold mines in Ghana and Tanzania which were Greenfield projects like Lumwana

LCP will build a new town to accommodate the miners. There will be schools, hospital, shops and recreational facilities. A brand new town in the bush!
